Christina M. Loden, L.Ac., MATCM

Ms. Loden focuses on the treatment of mental/emotional imbalances as an underlying cause of such stress related disorders as insomnia, anxiety, hypertension, cancer, and digestive disorders, which are commonly addressed in Western medicine through prescription drugs. Her success in relieving the myriad acute and chronic symptoms of stress is borne out through patient testimonials (see testimonials), as well as the steady growth of her practice. She now adds to her thorough knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine the preparation of customized herbal formulas as they pertain to her patients’ underlying cause of discomfort.

Another specialty area of Ms. Loden’s practice includes the successful application of acupuncture (with or without herbal therapy - depending on the managing oncologist’s medical advice) to counter the toxic side effects of cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, interferon, and radiation.

Ms. Loden’s passion lies in the treatment of stress-related disorders and psycho-emotional imbalances. She has had advanced training in the treatment of post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) in post-deployed soldiers as well as in-depth training in the psyche as it pertains to traditional Chinese medicine. Ms. Loden had spent much time studying under Dr. Joseph Yang, an expert in the field of TCM Psychiatry, where she gained great insight into the treatment of very complex manifestations of the psyche in the physical body.

Over the course of her training and in her practice, Ms. Loden began to notice trends in the patients she treated. This trend was a prolonged stress response, which eventually led to imbalances within the body, both physically and emotionally. This intrigued Ms. Loden, and she began to study and observe the stress response and how it can be counter-acted with acupuncture and Chinese herbs. In taking this approach to treatment, she noticed that once the patient’s underlying imbalance was resolved, the body was able to become strong enough to heal itself in the majority of cases. She has used this treatment approach to help patients resolve a variety of disorders.

Ms. Loden attended the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin and is a Graduate of Yo San University, where she earned an MATCM in acupuncture and traditional Chinese Medicine and was selected for a post-graduate fellowship. In addition to managing her own practice, Ms. Loden was asked to manage the Yo San Clinic herbal pharmacy, where she has been supervising interns and teaching students proper herbal formula preparation for the past year. In addition to her formal training in the United States, Ms. Loden has also travelled throughout Asia in order to further her knowledge and understanding of the variations of traditional Chinese medicine and herbal remedies as practiced in different regions.
